Based on years of experience helping clients get ready for childbirth, our small group class provides evidence-based education and plenty of support from a busy birth doula. This semi-private group class offers:
Support and advice on advocating for your wishes
Options to lessen the chance of a C-section
Practical strategies for childbirth in any medical facility
Training for your partner to coach you during labor if you haven't hired a doula
We suggest taking this class between gestational weeks 28-36. The sooner the better so you’ll have time to absorb the handout materials and create your birth plan and list of preferences.
Comfort Measures and Positions for Progress
Reduce anxiety, fear, and pain.
Learn the signs and stages of labor, comfort measures and positioning to support the birthing process, relaxation techniques, natural ways to effectively handle pain, as well as helpful tips for partners to provide their support.
Use gravity and multiple positions to facilitate the baby's movement through the pelvis, reducing the risk of prolonged or painful back labor.
Interventions, Inductions, and Meds
Differentiate between the standard childbirth process and the interventions that alter it.
By knowing the differences, risks, and treatments—such as medical, surgical, or technological—parents can better discuss what is safe and beneficial. Distinguish between helpful options and those that may not be needed or could even be harmful.
After birth, Newborn Procedures and Care
Know what to expect in the first hours after birth and the first days at home with your baby. This is an important time for both the baby and parents to recover and bond.
Learn the basics of baby care, addressing initial feeding issues and correcting them. We will cover recovery from vaginal and cesarean delivery, signs of postpartum complications, and how to care for emotional health after pregnancy.
Class location is downtown St Pete near the Morean/Chihuly.
Pick a date: November 2 or December 14, 2024.
Time is 9:30am-12:45pm
Space is limited to 6 people total. Pregnant people and their birth partners are welcome.
